Welcome to SoftTools/400

SoftTools/400 is a collection of utility software tools for IBM AS/400/iSeries/i5 midrange computers. Most of the tools are written in Machine Interface (MI) or at least have several MI components.
We started writing the utilties in the late 1980s on the System/38 and the early CISC versions of the AS/400, long before IBM had released any APIs. Even today, some things can't be done on the AS/400 without MI, or when an API is available to do what you need, MI is often significantly faster.
We are currently in the midst of rewriting several of the utilities as well as writing a few new ones. We don't yet have a target date when the tools will be available. In the meantime we will make available some free utilities, such as a front-end MI compiler that supports nested includes and the target release parameter.
